Tokens can be added to content in three different methods.Note: Method 1 currently does not work for courses and this is noted in our Known Issue List.

Method 1: Use the "token insert" button in the WYSIWYG editor :

  1. Click into the field where a token should be inserted.
  2. Click on the  button and select the token desired.
The token will be automatically inserted into the content where the cursor is located.
Warning

Method 1 currently does not work for courses and this is noted in our Known Issue List.

Method 2: Click on a token:

This method requires the WYSIWYG editor to be in "Plain text" format and may not be available on all fields. If it is available, a fieldset labeled "Tokens" will be shown under the field. Once the editor has been placed in "Plain text" format:
  1. Click in the editor where the token should be placed.
  2. Open the "Tokens" fieldset (found beneath the editor) by clicking on the "Tokens" header.
  3. Find the desired token under either "Common tokens" or "Advanced tokens" and click its link.
The token will be automatically added to the content.
The WYSIWYG editor can be placed back into any format (Full HTML, Filtered HTML, etc) when finished.

...

If the precise format is known for the token, then type it at the desired location in the text.  If the token is malformed then it will not be converted to the appropriate value so this method is quicker, but riskier.
