You can use this guide to complete the activity below to help you better understand how access codes function for your enrollment group.

Timed-Release Access for Course Enrollment

The enrollment group access code provides timed-release access to courses by group, enabling members from multiple groups to enroll in the same course. By utilizing the enrollment group access code, individuals from Group A and Group B can enroll in course XYZ using unique codes.

Testing Access Codes Functionality

To replicate the scenario described above and test how access codes function with enrollment groups, you will need to create two Enrollment Groups (A and B ) and then proceed by following the steps outlined below.

To accomplish these tasks, you will first need to create two enrollment groups. For guidance on creating an enrollment group, please see: Enrollment Groups - Add On

Adding an Access Code to an Enrollment Group

Navigate to the Enrollment Group

Click Edit

Add a unique code in the space provided under “Access Code”

Click Save

Apply the steps mentioned above to Enrollment Groups A and B, but use a different access code.

Adding an Access Code to a Course

Navigate to Course XYZ (this could be any test course you created on your site)

Click Edit

Click Course Settings

Click Pre-requisites

Add a unique code in the space provided under “Access Code” (the code should be different then the codes for Enrollment Group A and B.

Click Save

Adding a Course to an Enrollment Group

Navigate to Enrollment Group (A then B )

Click Edit

Under “Courses” type in the title of Course XYZ

Click Save

Testing the Enrollment Group Access Codes

To test these access codes, add yourself as a member to each enrollment group and try the code for each group when enrolling in Course XYZ.

Administrators are responsible for distributing the codes to learners in their group, and learners can only use the code if they are members of the enrollment group.
