The quiz timer will start the countdown as soon as the user clicks into the quiz and starts an attempt. Once time is up, the user will not be able to submit the quiz.

When the timer runs out on learners taking a quiz:

  • If questions are on a single page none of the answered questions will be submitted.
  • If questions are on multiple pages, only the questions that the learner and clicked "Next" for will get submitted.

For quizzes with questions on separate pages

 

  1. Navigate to a course with a quiz.
  2. Click the "Course outline" tab.
  3. Click "Edit instance", and proceed to Editing a Quiz.
  4. Beneath Taking Options tab, type the maximum time allowed (in seconds) in the Time limit field.
