Date-based access restricts access to a course object based on a duration or a specific release and expiration date.

  1. Navigate to the course.
  2. Click "COURSE OUTLINE." 
  3. Click "Settings" on the row of the course object you would like to edit.
  4. Click the "Access" tab on the left.
  5. Click "Date-based access."
  6. To restrict the length of time a learner can access the course object based on the learners start time, type the number of days, hours and minutes into the "Duration" field.
  7. To restrict based on specific dates and times, type the date and time into the "Release date" and "Expiration date" fields.
  8. Check the "Hide until release date" checkbox to keep the object invisible before it becomes available.
  9. Check the "Hide after expiration date" checkboxes to keep the object invisible after it becomes unavailable.
  10. Click "Update" to apply the settings.
  11. Click "Save outline" to save the changes.


Date-based access will not work for a child Course object within a course relationship.
