Financials Report

The Financial Report presents a view of the estimated revenue generated by a course. EthosCE automatically collects enrollment income and allows site administrators to report additional income and expenses related to the course. Below is an overview of the two main pages of the report, the Report Summary page and Edit Entries page.

Report Summary Page

The Report Summary page displays a waterfall chart of all reported income and expenses, a table with the total reported income and a set of filters that allow you to dig into the data.

The waterfall chart shows income with a green bar, expenses with a red bar and net revenue with a blue bar. The x axis of the chart is determined by the revenue and expense line items that have been added to the report.

The table below the chart shows the total number for each category of the report: Enrollment income, Other income, Expenses and Net Revenue.

The filters above modify the chart to only present the data relevant to the applied filters. The Date filter allows the user to view the financials for a specified period of time. The Income and Report filters allows the user to view financials based on categories of income and expense. Multiple categories of both income and expense can be applied at once. These categories are defined by the Income Category and Expense Category Taxonomy Terms.

Users can download the current view of the report from EthosCE as a CSV from the bottom left corner of the page and as a PDF from the top right corner of the page.

Edit Entries Page

The Edit Entries page displays financial line items that will be shown in the Report Summary Page along side enrollment income and the ability to create new revisions based on added line items.

Each line item contains the following items:

  • Category: Denotes if the line item is an income or expense

  • Expense / Income Category: Selectable list of income or expense types defined by the Income Category and Expense Category Taxonomy Terms.

  • Date: The date that the income or expense was realized

  • Amount: Value in dollars for the financial line item

  • Note: Any relevant information that needs to be recorded along side the financial line item

  • Remove: Removes the line item from the report

The Create New Revision check box allows a revision to be added to the course when new financial line items are added to the report. A log can also be entered along side the revision when needed. More information on revisions can be found here.
