Verifying Site Ownership with a Search Engine

Verification is a process of proving that you own the site.  You will need to verify your site in order to use the a search engine's Search Console.

Adding a new verification

  1. Log in as a site admin.

  2. Click the wrench to open the admin menu.

  3. Click on "Configuration."

  4. Click on "Search and metadata."

  5. Click on "Verifications."

  6. Click the "Add verification" link to add a new verification.

  7. Select a search engine.

  8. Click the "Next" button.

  9. Add Verification META tag.

  10. Upload your verification HTML file.

  11. Type the name of the file into the Verification file field.

  12. Type the Verification file contents into the Verification file contents field.

Editing or deleting an existing verification.

  1. Navigate to the verification using the steps above.

  2. Click the "Edit" link next to the verification to edit.

  3. To delete a verification, click the "Delete" link next to the verification to delete.

  4. Click the "Delete" button.
